The Red Sox were one of the original eight franchises.  Their history dates back to the early 1900's.  Early on they won 5 World Series, however, they had an 80 year drought of no championships until they won the World Series in 2003.  Every single game at their home stadium, Fenway Park, has been sold out since 2003. 

They won the 2007 World Series against the Colorado Rockies from Denver who had a very impressive winning streak at the end of their season.  The Red Sox have been occasionally referred to as the BoSox. (short for Boston Red Sox)
